Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the MorseBench mobile application (the “App”) and the morsebench.com website (the “Site”) handle information. MorseBench is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not run a backend server for the App, and we do not collect, store, sell, or share personal information.

Information we collect

None. The App does not create user accounts, does not require you to sign in, and does not transmit your data to us or to any third party. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in the App.

How the App uses your microphone

The App can listen through your device’s microphone to decode Morse code that you whistle, hum, or tap. Audio is processed in real time on your device for the sole purpose of detecting dits and dahs. Audio is never recorded to a file, never saved, and never sent off your device. The microphone is only active while you have explicitly started a listening session in the App.

How the App uses your camera and flashlight

The App uses the camera permission to control your device’s flashlight (torch) so it can flash Morse code patterns. The App does not capture, save, view, or transmit photos or video. No image data leaves your device because no image data is ever recorded.

Data stored on your device

Settings and preferences (for example, your preferred dot length or playback options) are stored locally on your device using the operating system’s standard storage. This information stays on your device and is removed when you delete the App.

The morsebench.com website

The Site uses Plausible Analytics for aggregate, privacy-respecting traffic measurement. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track visitors across sites or devices. It records anonymized page-view counts and referrer information only. No account is required to use the Site, and no advertising trackers are used. Standard server request logs (such as IP address and user agent) may be retained for a short period by the hosting provider for security and abuse prevention, in line with that provider’s standard practices.

Children’s privacy

MorseBench is suitable for general audiences, including children. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we also do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Third-party services

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those platforms may collect their own usage and crash data subject to their respective privacy policies. We do not receive personally identifying information about you from those platforms beyond aggregated, anonymized metrics (for example, install counts) that the platforms themselves produce.

Your choices

You can revoke microphone and camera permissions at any time in your device settings. Doing so will disable the corresponding decoding or flashlight features but will not otherwise affect the App.
